Movie Trailers: James Bond and Skyfall, Snoop Dogg/Lion in Reincarnated, and Lindsay Lohan in the Canyons

First up is the premiere of the new James Bond movie Skyfall. The trailer tells us that James Bond, after being presumably dead, comes back to fight the evil entity that is targeting Mi6 and its operatives.

What was stolen from Mi6? A hard drive with all the names of Mi6 spies was stolen. While the beginning of this story is already a little ridiculous, a hard drive brings down the most famous spy agency ever, it sets up an interesting scenario where Mi6 is now on the defensive.

Skyfall is going to be part three of Daniel Craig’s 007 trilogy thus far. Quantum of Solace was part two and did not go over well with Bond fans and movie fans alike. It seemed rushed and not completely coherent throughout. Hopefully Skyfall brings a lot more excitement and positive reviews. One thing I am looking forward to is more info on M, as part of the plot is her past and mistakes as Mi6 goes under investigation by the British government.

Snoop Dogg is now Snoop Lion. He had a spiritual awakening during his time in Jamaica and now has seemingly embraced reggae music. The new trailer for the documentary on his experiences, called Reincarnated.

Featured in the trailer is constant weed smoking. It’s Snoop Dogg, in Jaimaca, of course that is going to be the most obvious part of the trailer as that is what he spent the majority of his time doing.

Snoop Lion also made an album, a reggae album without all of his hip-hop roots. Lion makes it very clear that he doesn’t want any of his hip-hop influences to get in to the new album. A brave new route for someone who has had such success through one avenue.

Lastly, some interesting news coming out of The Canyons set. Lindsay Lohan, who is playing the lead female role of a woman who does too much drugs and sex (basically type-casted by Bret Easton Ellis to fill a role that is a constant in his books), had to do a sex scene. Even though she has done Playboy, an issue that was one of the most purchased and seen ever, Lohan was afraid to get naked in front of the ten person film crew. In order to do the scene with male adult film actor James Deen, she had the film crew film in their underwear.

While the setup for the movie The Canyon is set up like a joke right now, I’m actually really looking forward to it. I read American Psycho and loved it for its allegorical principles and also think Christian Bale’s portrayal in the film as Patrick Bateman is one the best performances ever. Bret Easton Ellis, who wrote American Psycho as well as Less Than Zero and Imperial Bedrooms, all books I enjoyed, wrote the screenplay for The Canyon. It is clear throughout that Bret Easton Ellis doesn’t much care for the darker side of Hollywood and a theme throughout his books are the side-effects in over-indulging in one’s id.
