Breaking Bad Review
Hello,
First I want to premise this article with the statement that I am nearly done with season 3 of Breaking Bad, as I have only started catching up a few weeks ago. With this said, I want to try to write an honest review and my opinions on the show, as I haven’t really written here much at all in a very long time, and considering that the first part of the 5th season is nearing an end, I thought I would try to get you hooked as to where you can catch up for the second half of season 5.
For those who have no idea what Breaking Bad is about, it is essentially the story of a chemistry teacher named Walter White (played by Bryan Cranston), who finds out that he has lung cancer, and the prognosis is not very good. Forced with the fact that he does not make much money as a high school teacher, he decides that in order to take care of his family in the future, he will start making methamphetamines. The kicker is that because he knows the chemistry behind how meth works, he can make a very superior product that the “clientele” seems to like very much. This fact leads him to become a very valuable player in the meth market of New Mexico (where the show takes place), and he quickly meets the very interesting side of the drug dealing world.
I think that one of the things that makes the show so special is the fact that Cranston does a terrific job in becoming the character of Walter White, while the supporting cast also really becomes the characters that are written for them. Jesse Pinkman, Hank Schrader and Skylar White really stand out to me, because although they all may be completely different people with extremely different backgrounds, the writers can tie all of them into Walt in some very fun ways. Also something that I want to briefly touch on is the fact that Walt Jr. has Cerebral Palsy, and the fact that the show’s writers went out of their way to hire an actor that actually has a mild form of CP himself is a really ballsy thing to do, but they made it work quite well.
It’s tough to do a review of such a good show, because when it comes down to it, I think that most everyone (that is of age, there are some pretty gruesome scenes) should at least check out the show. I know that this opinion has been quite well documented, but I really believe that Breaking Bad is one of the best shows currently on television. There are some shows that I like much more (that are off the air), but as far as current faire goes, Breaking Bad is definitely one you should check out. Because I have not seen the full show, I don’t want to give a review quite yet, but I would say in the 9 range as an average score (if I had to rate it). Hopefully I will be writing more very soon, and I hope this little blerb was everything you wanted and more!
