Oregon had a dominating win on national television Saturday over the Arizona Wildcats. Arizona had surprised many people this season and had even beaten Oklahoma State, a team that wrecked the Wildcats last season. Oregon held the Cats to 0 points even though they had six red zone attempts.
In recognition of the dominance, Oregon was rewarded with the number 2 ranking in both the AP Poll and the USA Today Coach’s Poll but did not receive any first place votes.
The Ducks topped LSU who struggled to beat Auburn Saturday, eventually winning 12-10. Auburn had struggled against Louisiana-Monroe the prior week and remains their only win. LSU received a first place vote in both the AP and Coach’s poll.
Alabama continues to hold the top spot. The Crimson Tide is clearly the best team in college football.
Florida State was a popular second-place team among many voters after their big win over Clemson. The Seminoles did receive a first place vote in the USA Today Coach’s Poll, also known as the Sports Information Director’s poll.
