Boise State (-16.5) v Utah

THE FIRST GREAT BOWL GAME OF THE SEASON!

This spread is pretty big, until you think about how many games Boise State didn’t cover, which was 1 (their loss to Nevada).  Other than that this Broncos team blew out every opponent by halftime, and kept pouring it on in the second half.  Boise took no prisoners this season, and they won’t in the bowl game either.

Boise State was playing for a national title appearance.  They learned how small their relevance was after their loss to Nevada.  Once the non-AQ team had its first loss, it wasn’t going to make a BCS bowl game or the national championship game, and the media had lost all interest in them, I was worried that they were going to mail in their last game of the season.  Well, they didn’t.  And after the beef these two teams have been making this week, this Bronco team is going to come out angry.

Utah Ute wide receiver DeVonte Christopher tweeted, “I can’t wait to get out here wit these Boise State or should I say Girlsie State they a bunch of cheerleaders…lol.”  Great locker room board material.  Yesterday the two teams were at the Hard Rock Café in Las Vegas when a scuffle started which had bartenders spraying players with water.  I LOVE THIS BOWL GAME RIGHT NOW.

Boise State and Utah are going to come out really fired up.  Bowl games are essentially just exhibition games to make a few people money at the expense of fans and the schools.  Boise State could have been disappointed in not making a BCS game and played down to Utah’s level.

Utah may be the biggest paper tiger in the country this year.  They rank 18^th in the country in points for (35.6) and 23^rd in the country in points against (19.8).  Their biggest win this season?   A 37-34 overtime win over 7-5 Pittsburgh.  They beat a good San Diego State team and an up and coming BYU team, but they got demolished by TCU 47-7 and lost to Notre Dame 28-3.

Boise State is going to crush Utah like they did every other team except for Nevada.  It’s going to be over at halftime with Kellen Moore and Titus Young running wild.  The Boise defense could blow this one out of the water if Ute quarterback Terrence Cain doesn’t do a good job replacing starter Jordan Wynn.
